Preventative maintenance is the single best way to keep your car running in supreme condition. To prolong the life of your car and all of its parts, learn to check and care for your vehicle before a problem arises. J&S Auto Repair can help you with every aspect of performing preventative maintenance on your car, but here are some tips you can use to know if it’s time to bring your car in:
- Check your oil - Know the difference between clean oil and sludgy oil that can harm your vehicle. Look for a metal loop or grip, and you’ve found your dipstick. Pull out the dipstick and if the oil is thick and black, as opposed to glossy and transparent, it’s time for an oil change.
- Tire rotation and alignment - As a rule of thumb, you should rotate your tires every 5,000 to 8,000 miles. If you’re using all-season tires, you may forget to have your tires rotated because you never change your tires. When you come in for an oil change, have your tires rotated and your alignment checked.
- Timing and Serpentine Belts - If your car is hovering in between 40,000-60,000 miles, getting your timing and serpentine belts replaced is a must. If your belts are worn, you will avoid a break down by having them replaced.
We specialize in the little things that keep your vehicle running smoothly and help prevent the expensive jobs that arise from failing to maintain your car.
